1. Who We Are

FranchiseTech (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides digital food-safety compliance software for food businesses. Our registered office is in Ireland and we are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018. Our contact email is hello@franchisetech.ro.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account data: name, email address, and password hash when you register.
  • Business data: organisation name, products, temperature logs, HACCP records, and sales data you enter into the platform.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, browser type, IP address, and session timestamps.
  • Payment data: billing address and the last four digits of your payment card (full card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored on our servers).

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to improve the platform, prevent fraud, and maintain security.
  • Legal obligation — where required by Irish or EU law.
  • Consent — for optional marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the FranchiseTech platform.
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts).
  • Send product updates or tips if you have opted in.
  • Detect and prevent security incidents or abuse.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Infrastructure providers (e.g. Supabase, Vercel) acting as data processors under EU-compliant agreements.
  • Payment processors for billing purposes only.
  • Analytics providers for aggregated, anonymised usage statistics.
  • Law enforcement when required by a valid legal order.

6. International Transfers

Some of our sub-processors are based outside the European Economic Area. Where this applies, transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or an equivalent adequacy mechanism.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and compliance records for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we delete personal data within 90 days, unless we are required to keep it longer by law (for example, financial records for seven years under Irish company law).

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction of processing while a dispute is resolved.
  • Portability of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent at any time for consent-based processing.

9. Cookies

We use strictly necessary session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Where we use analytics, it is configured to anonymise IP addresses and respect Do Not Track settings.

10. Children

FranchiseTech is intended for use by businesses and their adult employees. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, and role-based access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; in the event of a breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the Data Protection Commission without undue delay.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or by displaying a notice in the application at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
